how the checking works

Every place on the site started as a viral post. This is the gauntlet between "saved a reel" and "listed".

1. the pile

Posts land in a queue: things I saved, things people send me. Every one gets read fully, the caption, the frames, and what the comments actually say. The reading is done by an AI pipeline I built, running the same strict rubric on every post, no exceptions and no shortcuts on post 1,400 that post 1 didn't get.

2. the ad filter

The first question is always the same: is this evidence, or is it ad-shaped? The tells that usually kill a post:

paid partnership tag, or "collab" anywhere in the caption
sales-funnel captions: "DM for the location", "link in bio to book", "comment WORD and I'll send it"
all ambience, no food: fifteen seconds of decor and a boomerang of a latte
no price mentioned, anywhere
a comment section full of scripted praise while "where is this?" goes unanswered

A tell isn't an automatic death sentence: if the place itself has independent evidence underneath the bait, it can still pass. But it starts in the hole.

3. the reality check

A place only counts if it exists: findable on Google Maps, currently open, actually in Bengaluru. Names get cross-checked because creators mis-attribute constantly, the same reel gets recycled for three cities with the location swapped. Closed, moved, unfindable or out of town: gone.

4. the verdict

WORTH THE AUTO strong independent signal. Specific dishes named, commenters agreeing (or usefully warning), price visible.

SWALPA RISKY mixed signal. Real place, some evidence, but the hype outweighs the receipts. Go with expectations set.

Rejected places are never listed. This site is where to go, not a wall of shame.

the money rule

No restaurant pays to be here. No affiliate menus, no comped meals, no "featured" tier, no ads from anyone I might have to be nice to. The verdicts are only worth something because nothing is for sale.

corrections

The pipeline works off public evidence, and public evidence can be wrong. Own one of these places and think the verdict missed? Mail me. Errors get fixed fast, and the fix gets noted, not buried.
